Display Styles Dialog

Used to define and manage display styles in the active file and to view display styles available from DGN libraries.

Opens when you click the Display Style List icon on the View Control toolbox (Tools > Tool Boxes > View Control).

SettingDescription
Display Styles (list box) Lists display styles.

Clash Surroundings, Clash Background and Clash Elements display the styles used during clash detection.

Background If on, shows the background color or environment of views to which the selected display style is applied.

If set to Color, the true color overrides the view background color in the attached color table and Background Color preferences. Clicking the adjacent color button opens the drop-down Modify Color dialog for setting the Override Background Color.

Visible Edges (Shaded render mode only) If on, visible edges are displayed in views to which the selected display style is applied.

The Visible Edges settings have precedence over element overrides. Hence, if you apply both, the visible edges settings and element overrides, the visible edges in the model will take the visible edges settings. Similarly, while exporting visible edges, if the Visible Edge Overrides are set in the Export Visible Edges dialog, they will have precedence over visible edges settings and element overrides.

Hidden Edges (Visible Edge render mode or Filled Visible Edge render mode, or Shaded render mode with Visible Edges on) If on, sets the line style and line weight with which hidden edges are displayed in views to which the selected display style is applied. You can select the hidden edges line weight as Same as Visible Edge or 0.
Treat Open Elements as Edges (Visible Edge render mode or Filled Visible Edge render mode, or Shaded render mode with Visible Edges on) If on, all open elements are treated as visible edges and the edge settings are applied to them. While exporting visible edges, if this check box is on, the open elements are treated as visible edges and exported.
Hidden If on, the display style is not visible in the Display Styles list.
Views If on, the display style is available in the Display Style list in the Presentation section of the View Attributes dialog and in the list of display modes when you click the View Display Mode icon in a view control bar. You can use the display style for the entire view.
Clip Volumes If on, the display style is available in the Clip Volume Settings section of the View Attributes dialog. You can use the display style for the Forward, Back, Cut, and/or Outside of the clip volume.
Preview pane Displays how the display style will look using the active settings in the active display style.
